OSS Emergency Spill Kits
OSS Fibre-Sorb™
OSS Fibre-Sorb™ is an ultra-absorbent, natural product designed to assist with the absorption of hydrocarbon spills. Hydrocarbon spills are specifically dangerous resulting in slipping accidents, soil contamination, water contamination and cross contamination in production/industry.
OSS Fibre-Sorb™ material is made of plant derived waste coconut fibres of coconut shell husks, which are imported directly from Asia by OSS.
OSS Fibre-Sorb™ has a high moisture retention absorbing 8 times its own weight and does not leach (saw-dust absorbs only 1:1 and it does leach).
Due to advanced preparation techniques, OSS Fibre-Sorb™ is far superior in quality than locally supplied coconut products that are available.
OSS Fibre-Sorb™ is also an excellent medium to promote plant growth by improving the physical and biological characteristics of soil, reducing irrigation frequencies and enhancing root system strengths because it contains enzymes and plant nutrients (stimulates phytohormones).
Please note: OSS Fibre-Sorb™ cannot be disposed of into general waste once it has absorbed waste Hydrocarbons. OSS Fibre-Sorb™ becomes highly flammable when it has absorbed Hydrocarbons.
OSS Absorbent Pads
OSS Absorbent Pads have been designed using a high-grade absorbent material which allows total absorption of Hydrocarbon spills and can be placed where leaks are occurring momentarily. OSS Absorbent Pads contain spills and do not allow leaching.
OSS Absorbent Pads are available in sizes 250mm x 450mm, 500mm x 500mm and 1m x 1m.
Please note: Once the OSS Absorbent Pad has captured the spill, the pad is then disposed of as a contaminated waste and not as a general waste.
OSS Absorbent Booms
OSS Absorbent Booms are manufactured in two types: Standard Booms for hard surfaces and a Floating Booms (with rope ends) for water surfaces. Booms are used to contain a spill to a specific area. OSS Absorbent Booms are manufactured from natural materials which allow water contaminated with Hydrocarbons to pass through the boom, capturing the oil and releasing the water.
OSS Absorbent Booms are available in the following sizes (Ø60mm x 1m,2m,3m,4m,12m for hard surfaces) & (Ø160mm x 2m,6m,12m floating for water surfaces). OSS Absorbent Booms can be manufactured to other lengths on request.
Please note: Once the OSS Absorbent Pad has captured the spill, the pad is then disposed of as a contaminated waste and not as a general waste.

OSS Recycling/ The ROSE Foundation
OSS Sales and Services (PTY) Ltd has been awarded the contract for the collection of used oil containers from garage forecourts, by The ROSE Foundation.
These used oil containers are a contaminated waste which cannot be sent directly to plastic recyclers or scrap metal recyclers, untreated. There are waste generators which are disposing of this valuable and contaminated waste stream in general waste and therefore sending it to landfill, breaking the law.
We have vehicles (sponsored by The ROSE Foundation ) which collect filled plastic bags of these containers on a daily bases. OSS will supply the plastic bags, collect the filled bags, replace the plastic bags and issue the waste generator with a disposal certificate…. all free-of-charge.
Once containers reach our premises:
- Containers are sorted by material composition
- Oil and anti-freeze (Ethaline Glycol) is removed from the metals and plastics
- None of these materials leave the premises with hydrocarbon contamination
- Plastics are then shredded and metal cans are baled
- Plastic and metals are then sent to recyclers
- A circular economy is created and sustained
- No linear economy
- No waste to landfill!
Currently, OSS collects used plastic and metal oil containers from all over Gauteng but we are aiming to increase the footprint nation-wide.
